I’m Kim Russell. By most that know me, I am Mayor Pro Tem of Rochester, Michigan. I’m also a businesswoman. But most rewardingly, I’m a wife, a mother, a sister, and a daughter.
As women in the world we live in, it is vital for us to know the importance of being a leader wherever we’re planted in life – no matter our roles, our age, or our situation. It’s also important for us to know even though we may not like where we’re planted at the moment, it is our obligation, to ourselves and the women around us, to recognize our own beauty even in the midst of our chaos.
Knowing our own beauty and the significance of our leadership forces us to invest in ourselves – the most important action step of discovering our passions – or what I like to call, “finding your awesomeness” – and becoming successful women.
I am passionate about what it means to be all of these things to the best of my abilities. I do not take lightly the responsibilities that come with every role that I play in life, and I hope that you feel the same way. If you don’t, I hope that you’ll let me show you how and why you should.
Taking these roles seriously by investing in ourselves in order to “find our awesomeness” can change the direction of our lives and our success. I’m happy to tell you how it changed mine.
I grew up in Rochester, Michigan and it’s still my hometown today. I married my high school sweetheart, Jeff Russell. We have two amazing grown sons, Buck and Andrew. My husband and I own a manufacturing plant that has been in our family for generations. We moved the plant to Rochester in 1997 and it’s still going today.
Jeff loves to brew craft beer in the red shed on our plant’s property. In fact, I’m standing in front of the red shed in my profile picture above.
We’ve just started gifting our friends and family with “wedding brew.” Jeff, also known as “The Wedding Brewer” works with the couple to custom-make their craft beer to be served at the reception.
Community means the world to us and serving my hometown is the highest honor. My husband, Jeff, served on the Rochester School board for seven years. I currently serve as Mayor Pro Tem in the City of Rochester and have been on the Rochester City Council for the last eight years.
From balancing budgets, reducing taxes, to serving on boards and commissions, I represent the citizens of our great city of Rochester, Michigan with honor and respect.
Having a voice is important. I will continue to be fiscally responsible and strengthen Rochester’s structure. My vision is that all citizens are heard, community life is vibrant, businesses thrive, leaders strive to find common ground and to help people in a company that l love to find financial freedom that can change their life!
I’m a firm believer that joy comes from serving others with your God-given gifts, talents, and passions. When you have a desire for something, it’s like a fire that needs fuel to keep burning.
I fuel my passion through my Rodan and Fields business. My income from R+F provides me with fuel to go on mission trips, host a lovely young girl from the Pokot tribe in my home for a year and fundraise for ESTHERs children.
I hope that this blog will inspire you to achieve your personal best from the inside out.
